Good points. Persuasive speech aims to persuade. I'm not likely to persuade people who feel things rather than think them out.

I never considered Jerry Quarry a boxer; he was more like a really big guy that didn't mind being punched by a much better fighter. After a TKO, if the pugilist paces the ring yelling insults at the victor and the cheering crowd, the sport degrades into something unseemly and is really more like Wrestlemania than boxing. While there is a certain base appeal to Thursday Night Smackdown, I've never wished to go pro in that arena. The Marquis of Queensbury setup some rules of engagement so that a gentlemen could kick butt without having to engage in a bar-fight.
