Pure sophistry.

I am quoting CNN, who quotes Bagdad on the 35,000 civilian death toll.

You would have a point if I were quoting Bagdad.

And here you're taking me to task for posting that Israeli site that shows documents signed by Arafat??

35,000 Iraqi civilians DIED in Desert Storm?? NOT Hardly!! (though I don't doubt 40-80,000 died amongst the Iraqi army)

Heck, only 40,000 died in the firebombing of Hamburg during WWII, and THERE IS NO EVIDENCE of such an equivalent bombardment of civilian areas ever occurring...

You're being disingenous Zonder... CNN is quoting Baghdad.. Not claiming responsibility for the accuracy of the quote. Thus, you are relying upon Saddam's propaganda, not CNN's credibility (thin as it often is with Peotr Arnett's reporting there)..

As for children dying and diseases claiming other lives, then ask yourself why the French and Germans are willing to maintain the sanctions (which supposedly are the cause of these deaths) rather than just ending Saddam's regime once and for all and restoring traditional economic activity??

As far as I'm concerned, I believe it's just as relevant to assign the responsibility for any deaths of Iraqi children to each palace Saddam constructed instead of spending the money on medicine and food...

Say 5 to 10,000 dead Iraqi children for each palace??
