It looks like you and Mill agree, at least as much as you and the priest. Saddam can easily avoid war. Maybe peace protesters can go picket him in Bagdad and demand he disarm.

War is the last resort which should be used to settle conflict. There is a conflict, Pat. Saddam agreed with the UN to disarm and has broken that agreement for twelve years. Sanctions have not forced him to maintain his agreement but have only made him harm millions of his own people through continued recalcitrance. That is the conflict, and there appears no other way to resolve it except by war. In a world of apocalyptic weapons, the urgency is great. Honestly now - I mean, let's you and I be Americans here. You have your view, which I reject but respect - and I have mine - which you reject. That's all fine and dandy. But let's just say Bush is correct: he has intelligence that proves Saddam is trying for apocalyptic weaponry. He shows us a very small amount of that intelligence and tells us he cannot show more because it will compromise national security. He KNOWS Saddam is lying. What if as President he should listen to your protests and simply wait for Saddam to strike us? What if he should wait until Saddam's weapons have been sold to numerous stateless terrorists who then use them to hit us? What would you honestly think of Bush, especially since Bush warned us of exactly this eventuality?
