"The technology industry overall is more important than one law. "

They must work together.

In the boom money was no object, I was offered a few positions in SV but turned them down because of the lifestyle but had the potential for higher income.

Money is now an big part of the picture, and the cost to employ is too. Why are all the tech jobs going to India and China? The Tech crash has left alot of buildings vacant through out the country. CA is a expensive place to live, why wouldn't companies that want expand in the future look else where to expand to reduce cost? I know more people looking to move out of CA then move in at this time.

We pay almost 40% ($30-35K) more for our CA techs then here in NH. As we hire more techs they will be employed out of this (NH) office rather than in CA to reduce the cost.
