I attach no greater weight to Nobel laureates' opinions in this regard -- unless the prize was the Peace Prize.

And awarding the prize to Nelson Mandela was not about affirmative action. It was about regaining the credibility that the Peace prize has lost in its earlier years. About the only thing that was left before the Nobel went down the drain was if it was awarded to liars like Reagan or warmongers like GW Bush. It was not an honor to Mandela that he was awarded the Peace prize, it was an honor to the prize that Mandela chose to accept it.
