Thanks for the translation, zonder, showing that Chirac's tirade was quite as undiplomatic in the original as in the translation. What a tirade. The purpose of the EU is for everybody else to shut up and agree with the French position, like well brought up children, is it? Well, we'll see about that. I suspect "New Europe" may harbor its own ideas about such treatment.

Woah...thanks for the original French and translation. I found it somewhat hard to believe that one head of a sovereign state would be so condescending and rude as to say that publicly about other states, but by golly he did. His nanny should rap his knuckles. As they say on the playground, "Who died and left you king?" :-) Been busy all day shoveling snow and taking care of my kid who is enjoying a -very- long weekend off due to the weather. I like snow myself but not when it stays in the streets because there is no place to put it!
