The Japanese are awakening, for better or worse, from that dream they've been living that a nation 5,000 miles away will handle their defense.

I think it's past time China 'did something', but they don't seem to believe it's in their interest to do so.

They need it 'explained' to them... but they may not take issue with N.K. until S. K. and Japan announce nuclear weapon programs (leading China to fear a Taiwanese nuke).

As to "Why does it always have to be US that worries about these things?", well... we're the only one acting like a 'World Policeman', intervening in every corner of the globe, so of course everyone turns to the 'cop on the beat'.

Meanwhile, China is just sitting back and building their economy... emerging as an economic superpower.
