It seems they killed around 30-40k Kurds in the 1980s, and then maybe another 40k Kurds since 1992 You've gotten all balled up about the Kurds. There are [at least] two major differences: a) What you don't seem to comprehend is that Saddam is a brutal dictator. Yes, people have wars and people get killed as a result. We can't do anything about that. But Saddam uses murder and torture to maintain his power. Just like a few other dictators. I understand that b) Saddam clearly poses a national security threat to the United States. As does does NK. None of the other dictatorships do. It seems clear that there is a two pronged test: a) Does the dictator routinely practice human rights violations? b) Does the dictatorship pose a national security threat to the United States or its allies? Item (b), taken alone, is a necessary and sufficient condition. But item (a) is aggravating, making the case even stronger. Okay.......let's take Burma. General Than Shwe is the leader of the Burma military junta that rules Burma. He has proven to be a brutal dictator.......thousands have died under his rule. If that weren't enough, he has imported two Pakistani nuclear scientists who I understand were kicked out of Pakistan because of their ties to al Qaeda. They are working diligently to get Burma admitted into the nuke mile high club. Think about it......the issue that really cranks Bush's engine..al Qaeda and nukes. Also Gen. Shwe has been playing nice nice with China another brutal dictatorship that coincidently threatens our national security. Frankly, it looks to me that while we have Saddam all tied down playing with himself, Gen. Shwe is making hay.freeburmacoalition.org This isn't complicated. No it wasn't.......and I can't wait for your answer. ted
