I understand the law perfectly and am merely reporting events. The woman (Christine Berry) was titled "art advisor" rather than dealer though and worked for the now defunct Fine Collections Management. She left a paper trail that indeed did prove she helped him evade substantial sales tax but is testifying under a grant of immunity.

BTW The seller does get benefit from a lack of sales tax in that it draws in more customers. That's half the attraction of buying online for example and why retalers there fight any move to implement one.
