The votes of 8 nations doesn't represent a decision "of the world" or of a legitimate authority over the world in my opinion. I agree that there is no authority there, no government. Still, if a forum exists, there is a preponderance of opinion in that forum that war is uncalled for, and it's that forum's resolutions are the ones being thwarted, then it takes a certain arrogance to act contrary to the wishes of the forum, whatever it's weaknesses. There's nothing to stop us from doing it. There's nothing to stop us from doing whatever we damn well please, we're that powerful. Nothing except our own thoughtful restraint, respect for others, and good judgment, that is.
