We can buy-off the poor countries in Eastern Europe -- it is a pity that we cannot buy-off Germany, Russia, France and China.

Bill, William Saffire said weeks ago that the main motivation for France to jump on board with Germany when they had previously been relatively supportive of the US position was to dominate the EU from a Franco-German alliance. It seems Chirac just proved Saffire right.

Think Chirac can single-handedly bring down both the EU and the UN? And wouldn't Saddam and Osama get a big chuckle out of that?
