Lizzie Tudor,

PROP 13 is the smartest thing that California voters ever did in the history of the State.

What Prop 13 accomplished was the shift of taxation decisions, albeit only property tax related, from the hands of the politicians to that of a fixed formula.

With every municipality facing budget deficits, can you imagine what our property tax rate would be if it is up to the local County Supervisors to determine the tax rate? Go find out how property tax rate was determined in your county prior to Prop 13 and you would be thanking Jarvis and Gann instead of badmouthing their proposition.

Politicians will always find a way to justify stealing as much money from each of us as possible. Prop 13 is our way of saying: we don't care what your BS reasons are, here is what we will give you. That's it. Spend it wisely.

.....nonresident homeowners .....

They don't get the owner occupied deduction so they actually pay higher property taxes.
