comparing gold to the way it has behaved in the past is not dynamic analysis. gold behaviour after september 11, and what it would be if such an event occurs again would be vastly different. it is the compounding of events that are lighting the fire under gold. all the events that you have described LTCM,September 11, Argentina, Russia etc have all, taken together shook the foundations of the financial world and any added burdens are COMPOUNDING the rise in gold. Gold is a completely different animal now then it was a year ago. This i believe is just a normal pullback after it went too far too fast. nothing more nothing less.
