I just now saw your question, thanks to JLA highlighting it. Please understand there's presently 483 inbox messages directed at me. And I type over 100 wpm, part of why you used [sic] so often in your message to me--lol--and even with this typing speed I can't keep up with 'em all. I don't have the capacity to open each message.

Pretty much my strategy for answering messages is when I'm reviewing my inbox I prioritize messages that likely include referenced material, some of which I put in the thread header. When you see me in a debative exchange with someone, more than not, it's because that's what's current on the thread when I'm on the thread. I'm not at my computer 24 hours, mostly during the evenings and scattered time over the weekends.

Regarding your question:

Indeed, there is no proper adult to child ratio for a Shock and Awe campaign. But try looking at it this way. If you were to reduce the scale and environment into 10 children and one adult in a house your army wants to capture, you'd probably do it differently. You wouldn't, for example, light the house on fire, would you?

That Iraq's population is 42 percent children under 15 is a noteworthy consideration. How could it not be, given what Bush and Blair are about to do?

Perhaps you should direct your same question to Hills and Knowlton, the public relations campaign hired by the Kuwait government during the last Gulf War. Ask them about babies pulled from incubators, and how that affected the American public.

And I don't think any humanitarian would agree that the best strategy is to take out the next generation of warriors. I wrote a song that includes the below:

"Children of yesterday
Become the warriors of today
And the child who kills tomorrow
Will bring the world new sorrow.

'Tis a story so old
With a glory so cold
Where winners bow their heads
In tribute to the dead."

Finally, it's my firm belief there are other means available other than pulling the war trigger. The war trigger is a killing one only. I agree with the French, it's a measure of absolute last resort. Frankly, I don't see how anyone can support this war, yes, with those Iraqi children, based on speculation.
