Thanks for posting that. Pharmaceuticals will be a large part of defense, going forward.

It's good to place the danger of biological weapons in perspective. They are unlikely to kill large numbers of people. HOWEVER, simple, cheap agents could paralyze the economies of the world. If something is yechy, the developed world can and will destroy itself from the inside with costly infrastructure and litigation.

Look at recent outbreaks with the simple, self-limiting Norwalk-like viruses. Collect feces from a single infected individual, and one could turn a jerk into a billion dollar dent in any one of several industries.

Wheat rusts. Porcine viruses. Etc. It is *simple* to create biological havoc on a restricted budget.
