I think he was talking about trailing PE's, not 2004 estimated PE's. BWDIK.

A number of people have scrubed the accounting on the S&P earnings, and come up with estimates in the low 40's to high 30's.

Estimates of actual P/E were about 28.

I think Barron's had something on this about 3 weeks ago.

Also, P/E was higher just a few weeks ago ;-)
