If you subscribe to the theory that the market price reflects all the known information at that point in time, then you have to assume that there is something out there we are not yet aware of.

I believe that stocks increase in price mainly because of earnings growth and the prospect of future earnings growth. However in today’s environment you don’t seem to be able to trust anyone. Lies, Damn lies, and statistics & financial reports.

If hedge funds and short sellers are able to start rumors and dump the stock to drive the price down, to me that means that the value isn’t there.

How about when “Management” and the “Analysts” bend the accounting rules and start rumors to drive the price up so they can dump their stock?

We are playing in a game where the powers that be seem to make up the rules and change them when it’s to their benefit. Unfortunately it’s the only game in town and if you want to play “you pays your money and takes your chances.”

It’s been said that if you’re in a poker game and you don’t know who the mark is then you’re the mark. I’m getting to the stage where I realize there is a mark and I’m just hoping it isn’t me.
