<how that would have changed the world>

There are so many tragedies in history, where things could easily have turned out much differently and much better.

In 1917, there were negotiations on a compromise peace, which failed because the Germans demanded too much territory from France.

As soon as the war was won, the U.S. reverted to isolationism, which meant President Wilson had no leverage to attain the magnanimous peace treaty he championed.

In the 1930s, pacifism in W. Europe let Germany break the treaties and rearm.

Without the misery of the Depression, Hitler would never have come to power. Economic mismanagement (beggar-thy-neighbor tarriff wars, in particular) turned a stock collapse into a recession, and a recession into a Depression.

In the late 1930s, Stalin offered to join an anti-Hitler alliance to contain Germany. It didn't happen, because the Poles wouldn't let Soviet troops on their territory. And because the French and British wouldn't clearly commit themselves to defending Poland and the Czechs.

<<Jacob, Think about how that would have changed the world. No hitler. Perhaps no WW2. I wonder if anything is
actually written about this alternate history.>>>

The wonderful thing about life and politics, like electric bumper cars at a carnival, could go any which way
One second or one inch makes a big difference, If you miss boarding an airplane by one minute, if the bullet that hit Reagan was one inch to the left, if someone did not catch Joe Montana's last second desperate pass.
If Al Gore had won by one vote in the Supreme Court, the stock market crash following the bubble could be blamed on the Democrats.
Science fiction writers do a good of predicting alternate futures. Jules Verne the best example. Amazingly accurate -a combination of expanded emerging scientific discoveries , human inclinations, and attitudes of various nations in adapting new technologies. With America being the bold and reckless always willing to try something new , bigger, and challenging.
Verne writes "From the Earth To The Moon", and about 80 years later JFK says " Lets go" '
With the same political arguments between Texas or Florida as the desired launch site
With the chosen launch site located within mere miles of Vernes prediction
With the same approximate weight of the vehicle.
Somebody is already writing the alternate future you mentioned, we just dont know who it is yet
It certainly is not going to be OBL
