Don't tell him those Bobcats are around $10K depending on band and model, heck a new plow and truck is going to run you $33-38K... I'm sure his landscaping neighboor probably made a years worth of payments in that one storm... :>)

*Upscale* might not adequately describe the situation or the price structure. And as for size of the driveway, well....see if you can catch a look at the driveway pictured in today's Wash Post on front page....the one with the tractor trying to make a dent in the snow. Mine's not quite that long, but the turn-around area in front of the three-car garage takes a lot of work and catches as much as a foot more snow than the remainder which goes to the street. Not to mention the fact that in some spots, there is no place to actually put the snow which is plowed. Our neighbors hired the same guy, and he had a devil of a time putting snow somewhere where it wouldn't affect someone else or the fleets of cars they had in the driveway.

In the middle of the night, a snowplow came down the street and blocked our driveway and front walk again....had to shovel this a.m.

I wouldn't hire anyone I don't know anything about, either. Would keep the driveway filled with snow before hiring any old "joe with a pickup truck"--the types who knock on the door regularly to offer to trim trees and clean gutters--no thanks. I happened to know this service vendor before hiring. Price was worth it...would hire again. And that's saying something.

....Jack down the street would do mine for 20-50 bucks and my driveway is almost a third of a mile....

Grace does Jack do lawns? I cant find a lawn service for less than 50 bucks a month. And they only come out twice a month.
Where are the kids that used to do lawns? I haven't seen a kid pushing a mower down a street in years.
