I might add that there will be a massive number of people who either jump on or jump off the bandwagon based on how things go. I will not be one of those people. I have long supported an action against Iraq and several other countries in the region. I don't like war and I fear for the kids fighting on behalf of me as I sit on my fat ass and speak my opinion without needing to lay my ass on the line. I also fear retaliation on our soil but I believe we would see another event here with or without the war in Iraq. Not going to war with them on the basis of fear of strikes here would only give us a false sense of security just like we had before 9/11. After we deal with Iraq I'm in full support of dealing with several other countries as well. If that makes GW Hitler I say Hail the Fuhrer

At least he didn't bet all those things on a cigar!
Now, now. You're going to irritate our leftist friends. :-)

I suspect Bush wishes he weren't as far out on that limb as he is now. But he is and that's that.

I think the reasoning will go like this: Disregarding the good reasons for taking out Saddam, those people screaming and rioting in the streets didn't vote for Bush or any other Republican and never will. So why care what they think? You lose nothing by offending them. As far as support from other countries is concerned, the longer the US waits, the more time Saddam and the leftists have to work their propaganda. So if it is to be done at all, 'twere best done quickly.

Some blame Bush Sr. for not going all the way
That's my stance. He had the army there and the Iraqis defeated. Why not march to Baghdad and shoot Saddam? If the UN screams, give them his dead body and tell it that it can make it President of Iraq.
I think Bush Sr. screwed up royally. And he knows it.

The American people still (on average) have no balls when it comes to war.
We never have. Before WW2, the isolationists in the US were quite strong- -strong enough to persuade FDR he wanted nothing to do with the European war.
Then came Pearl Harbor.
Pissing off Americans is REAL BAD IDEA. But a President has to harness the energy unleashed and put it to work. That was not done very well following 911.
