<<Real Estate broker is a state sponsered monopoly>> I'm a sole proprietor real estate broker, and the only thing I get from the state is a piece of paper saying I am one, after paying the license fee to the state and paying the fee to pass the continuing education class every two years. I don't know what my state is doing for me other than the piece of paper. Please elaborate. I'd like to send the state a thank-you note for the privilege, if only I could determine what the benefit to the state might be.
