Dunno, using smart bombs or artillery to kill a widely dispersed enemy embedded in a large civillian population seems unlikely to roust Saddam in and of themselves, BWDIK? This ain't the Gulf War, where we can isolate 'em with big encircling tank thrusts....I doubt we'll see much if any resistence, other than chemical weapons until we get within 25-30km of the center of Bagdad. Air power has its limits, and one of its limits is in digging out an entrenched enemy on his home turf through dense urban rubble. Target acquisition is much more difficult for one thing, as is damage assessment. Our boys and girls are well trained and will givea good account of themselves, but I wouldn't count on the casualties being anywhere near as low as in '91.

In any event, I hope you're right. It's a fight we have to fight, and we will find out soon enough. I wish we'd just get on with it.....<NG>
