(SMY:TSX-VEN) ("SAMSys"), a Toronto-based world leading provider of patented radio frequency identification (RFID) hardware solutions, is showcasing their broad array of RFID readers in live demonstrations at ProMat 2003, an international material handling and logistics show and conference being held in Chicago, Illinois from February 10 - 13, 2003. Show attendees will be able to visit SAMSys' booth (No. 3242) to view its full range of products as well as live demonstrations of RFID solutions designed to improve productivity in the manufacturing, distributing and warehousing areas. "RFID technology is being recognized as an important means to increase productivity in the manufacturing, distribution and warehousing sectors because the technology allows for tighter control of inventory throughout the supply fulfillment chain. From the factory floor to the warehouse to the retail shelf, RFID technology can provide higher profitability," says Cliff Horwitz, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of SAMSys. "We are pleased to showcase the largest selection of RFID readers at ProMat in real-life material handling and logistics scenarios that demonstrate technology-enhanced efficiencies to today's manufacturing environments." SAMSys will provide the following logistics and warehouse technology demonstrations during ProMat 2003: - Smart-label tagged cartons will be read using SAMSys' SARS 9210 reader on a roller conveyor equipped with an ISO 15693 (13.56 Mhz) tunnel reader; - SAMSys' SARS 9120 reader will read tagged metal cages on casters using a portal equipped with an LF (125 KHz) reader using a floor antenna; and - Static displays of their RFID readers and modules. In addition, SAMSys will demonstrate their new multi-protocol SARS 9320 reader in a UHF (915 MHz) interrogator/tag setup, which is simultaneously being shown at the ISO 18000-6 artifact demonstration in Orlando, Florida. This reader shows the operation of a single UHF reader capable of simultaneously reading both 18000-6 A and B protocol tags. SAMSys is pleased to offer its technology as a demonstration "artifact" at this important step in proving the viability of the -6A and -6B protocols in the rigorous ISO standards process. SAMSys offers a selection of reader solutions including standard frequency-specific modules (SAMSys' SARS family of readers), custom-made application specific reader systems, and OEM modules aimed at providing tailored solutions for a wide variety of supply chain management applications. The comprehensive line of RFID readers spans low frequency, high frequency and UHF, supports a very broad range of protocols, and is available in a wide range of form factors, including: - packaged and ready to use low power readers, - high power readers for demanding applications, - smart shelves, - modules for integration into OEM products, - RFID reader networks for TCP/IP connectivity, and - dual frequency readers at 125KHz/13.56MHz and 134KHz/13.56 MHz.
