You misunderstood my remarks. I never said they don't...I said "it remains to be seen". I think the scenario that we march in and everyone welcomes the troops like it was the liberation of Paris in 1944 is overly optimistic. I'll predict there will be fairly fierce and fairly prolonged resistence (whether it is on a scale with Stalingrad certainly is iffy....that was one of the greatest urban defense battles of all time!)

Lots of Iraqi's don't like Stalin for much the same reason that lots of Soviets didn't like Stalin...he's murdered and imprisoned many of their loved ones, often for no reason. However, it's hard to predict how they will react to an external threat (external to both Iraq AND painted by propaganda as neo-Christian Crusaders out to take over the Holy Land). Like I said, we'll find out soon enough.
