<<Vast majority of Soviets LOVED Stalin (I know this for sure)>>

I'll take your word for this (of course, there was a nasty selection/survivor bias for the one's who DIDN'T!<G>)

I suspect Saddam is liked as well

I wouldn't rule it out.

Is he giving out rifles and ammunition to citizens so they are well prepared for guerilla war?

I'm pretty sure this is the case, or else distribution has been prearranged, ie, it can be done VERY quickly.

There is a huge chance that the US is going to kill a great number of innocent people and have many US GIs killed.

I agree, there's a much larger chance for much larger civilian and US combatant casualties than in the Gulf War. In that sense, and in the fact that it will be fought in Bagdad, it is much more Stalingrad-LIKE than most US post-Korea military actions.

If I knew that my son could be drafted I'd definitely be against this war.

The draft has not been reinstated yet. Though some (DemoRats) are calling for it.

<<Is he giving out rifles and ammunition>>?
Yes, guns, but no ammo for obvious reasons. It will be disbursed later by retreating Iraqi soldiers
