Anti-war protests send `wrong' message

Massive anti-war demonstrations around the world over the weekend were denounced Monday by Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi who said they sent the wrong message.

With the likelihood of a U.S.-led military attack against Baghdad to topple Saddam Hussein, Koizumi said: ``We have to be careful and avoid sending the wrong message that Iraq is right.'' Koizumi told reporters that Japan would continue to signal Iraq that it should cooperate with U.N. weapons inspectors and avoid hostilities.

Chief Cabinet Secretary Yasuo Fukuda added that Iraq should be the rightful target of demonstrations...
