Borb,
look at the US trade deficit. It's going up. We have even the desired small blip of inflation (ex energy). so the US ecnoomy is doing a "reflate" which was the desired effect. Japan could be a big beneficiary of this as a net exporter (either it's factories or it's companies with plants in other Asian location).

I recently read an overview on Japanese deflation. Most hit was household appliances and consumer noncyclicals. Those sectors I would avoid for now. Good are especially components with a good export (or indirect export) proposition.

So machine tools, electronic parts, semiconductors, in the future evenn Semi equipment - could be nice sectors to take positions in. I would even consider some totally written off domestic service sectors like brokers, non-bank financial service firms and even banks with little bad debt. Usually regional banks were more prudent in Japan wrt. to bad loans. Of course a thorough analysis would be necessary..
