My own guess is that Bush has handled the public diplomacy part of this one so badly that, whatever happens in Iraq, his public support will be more questionable than before. Naahh, you are confusing your "guesses" with your "wishes," John. The mission was to take Saddam down. The time frame included going to the UN. The parameters included the knowledge that the Euros would be against it, and that the left here and abroad would oppose it. No one could have done it better, considering what had to be done, IMO.
