Here's a pre-demonstration quote found on the website of the "Peace Center of Nevada" that you'll get a kick out of (via LGF): Together, at intervals, we will circulate from our "base" and move through the streets from 6:00-7:30pm. PCNC will work to provide 2'X3' black-on-white sandwich-boards with concise messages.. i.e: "No one's sons should die for oil," "No blood for oil," "No new 'war' on Iraq," "Peace in our time," "Not in our Name,"etc. Other handmade messages are welcome if, again, they are nonviolent and non-inflammatory. Please bundle up, candle up and join us for all or part of this time. ncpeace.org Lots of people believed that the Reuters photo of demonstrators holding a "Peace in Our Time" sign had to be the work of a wag, but apparently not. The ignorance of history is that great. That goes for Reuters as well as for the Peace Center of Nevada.

CB, The visceral nature of the anti bush stuff is partly a reaction to the visceral nature of the anti-clinton stuff which is partly a reaction to the visceral nature of the anti-reagan stuff. This ideological divide is deep and it makes consensus politics, particularly on foreign affairs, very difficult to attain. My belief is that if it werent for this, many anti-war folks would be on the other side. And if clinton/gore were president visa versa. Mike
