Maximum PC mag (print copy, March 03, says XP 3000+ is equal to P4 3.06. Here's a quote: Regardless, Maximum PC now officially declares the fastest Athlon XP desktop platform to be the performance equal of the fastest Pentium 4 desktop platform (P4/850E/PC1066). In November we weren't so sure it was kosher for AMD to market its Athlon XP 2800+ as the equal of a 2.8GHz Pentium 4, but with the Athlon XP3000+, we think the performance ratin is essentially accurate. On another topic, dual Athlon MP 2400+'s got trounced by Dual Xeon 2.53 GHz, usually by 50%. Only Photoshop and Premiere were close (within 3%). I wonder whether Quake3, Jedi Outcast and LightWave's MP support doesn't recognize dual AMD chips. For LightWave, the problem may have been that the setting of threads=8 may have been ideal for P4 hyperthreading, but couterproductive for 2 MPs. Well, at least dual MPs trounced dual PowerPC G4s.
