I suspect most folks has a pretty good idea of these and many others. The thing is, as bad as these problems are, they aren't as bad as the ones that would exist if we did nothing. We tried doing next to nothing for the last eight years of the decade and it really didn't work very well. The mess we are in as a consequence continues to grow. Of course the Islamic world will consider this war justification for waging terrorist aggression. Why wouldn't they take every opportunity to justify their heinous attacks on society? World opinion didn't greet 911 terribly favorably so they have some propaganda amending to tend to. Of course, they have been waging war on the US for many years now but let's not let technicalities get in the way. No pleasant options remain for the White House. Bush inherited a world situation which stinks. You know I don't think there really even exists a "pro war" faction in our country. There are, however, people who believe that it is the only option left to achieve vital limited objectives. If there were a better option, one that really would work, I would be in favor of it.... I really hope that Americans, and other nationalities, will get behind the President once the bullets start to fly. I hope that, unlike Vietnam, when soldiers were excluded from certain establishments, Americans will realize that the decision was made at a pay grade significantly above theirs and that it will be time to get to business. If that doesn't happen then I can assure you, that regardless of how successful the combat is, the outcome will be disastrous. Not just for Bush, not just for Republicans, but for Americans and for freedom loving people everywhere.
