Political correctness seems to be eroding. I think the Bali bombing moved that along.

The intelligence communities don't seem to have political correctness issues - the P.C. stuff seems to affect mostly front line public services, like police, airport searches, etc.

Also, the campaign against the P.C. has gone on long enough that there is mostly a veneer or image of 'random' searches - search a few blonds at the airport along with
the target groups. Note that John Walker Lindh is blond, and a number of Chechens and Balkan Muslims are also blond.

I don't think the ACLU gets silenced, just ignored.

Hopefullly we won't get 5 radiological bombs.

By the way, some time post 9/11, there where helicopters flying quite low over Silicon Valley in a progressive grid search pattern. They may have been sniffing for chemicals, but radiological is much more likely.

One this about a threat of that level (radiological) is that it falls to the Army and Army inteligence. The Army being charged under the Consitution with protecting the U.S.
No warrants, no hearings, and not much in terms of rules of engagement.

I hope your sceanario dosen't happen, but it is a real possibility.
