but $ are backed by our industry, in fact, no other western country can survive without US products (computers, etc) while US can easily survive without french wine.

Which may explain what this war is really about?

The US dollar is widely held by foreign govts, but up till a few years ago it was in a bull run, now it begins its long fall. Watch and see what happens. Fiat currencies all fail. Why do you think the green paper of the USA will not?

Saddam has been trading his American oil dollars for euros and the dollar has been falling ever since.

Albert in a democracy opposition is something that is supported and welcome, America is bitter about France and Germany following the wishes of the populations that they represent.

Why does the govt of the USA want these govts to act as dictators. The USA seems to be quite pleased Blair does not listen to the people of England. It does not seem like the USA supports democracy at all any more, only war. It is paying other countries to support it in an unjust war. I guess relative to the USSR it still looks good.
