>> When a senior French representative to an international security conference in all seriousness argues that "US policy in the Middle East was driven by a White House plan to solidify support within the Christian right and the Jewish community by moving large numbers of American Jews to West Bank settlements in order to begin to fulfill the prophesies of the Book of Daniel and the Book of Revelations," <<

did he really say that? great! a high ranking french rep actually had the courage to tell the truth about what this war is about. i just might have to break open a bottle of smooth french wine tonight to celebrate. could you provide me a link please?

i just love to watch all the foreign heads of state and diplomats try to dance and skirt the real reason they are against this war. it's just not politically correct for them to come out and say that they don't believe in a war for the sake of the jews. it's quite comical to watch them try to make their case when they can't be forthright.

The fact that Israel is rarely if ever mentioned in the US when it comes to our war plans in the middle east suggests that the French are more willing to raise the issue -- we can agree or disagree, but at least the French don't pretend that Israel is not a big consideration for US policy. The same goes for oil.
