No one has questioned WHEN Saddam should go, or WHETHER he should go. The only question is HOW, and the proponents of war continue the same old refrain that there is no other answer than war. It's so stale and shows how little the military activists know or care about any other feasible alternatives that might be more effective, less costly, and have much better long term results.

It's the same sort of jingoism that led to the Spanish American war and the continuation of the Vietnam War. Listening to Rummy on public television yesterday gave me the same impression: He and his buddies simply don't get it. And why should they? They have no experience in the art and skill of diplomacy, and they rely only on the right wing extremists inside and outside the Pentagon for their plans.
