I spent a few summers in Provence, throwing dinner parties for large groups of friends. We'd fill up five-liter jugs of rose at the local cave, buy fresh produce, cheese and bread at the market, and have a ball. My favorite discovery was grilled duck breast with a sauce I made from fresh cherries.
I'm not happy with the French's political posturing, but I adore their food culture. ;-)
