Speaking from my personal experience....I remember well how eagerly the Iraqi troops surrendered and how bitterly many wept upon being returned to Iraq....

I'm glad it is nice and sunny over there.

I'm not passing judgement in total ignorance as you like to surmise, I happen to live in a neighborhood rich in Arab folk and my son goes to school where every class (28 kids on average) where there are at least 4 or more Arab kids in each class. And I get to discuss in the schoolyard Middle East issues now and again with Arab parents. As well, the retail that goes on in my neighborhood is also heavy on the Arab side. So while I might be a weasel, I do read other sources than CNN, I do talk to muslim arab folk, have many friends living in Estonia and elsewhere in Europe, a very good friend of mine (a muslim from Indonesia) is a "city planner" working in Saudia Arabia for the last ten years and we often talk about middle east affairs when he comes to stay at my home.

Americans will not butcher Iraqis like their leader has been doing for the last few decades. They will be liberated and will, I hope, be appreciative of their new found freedom and likely, new prosperity.

While it's all a dark hole to you, in fact, the same dark hole people such as yourself saw in a war with Belgrade, I suspect that the fall of Saddam will herald a rebirth of liberal consciousness in Iraq.
