I knew there was a reason for not reading the paper. Maybe the pliers are for pulling legs. I don't think I 've used a compass since I had to draw those nice pretty circles in geometry class.

Oh, maybe he means for telling directions. Put the compass on the pliers...no, that violates the magnetic principle, or whatever. The hell with it; I can find the North Star, and the sun still rises in the east and sets in the west, and they put nice little mileage post markers on the roads so I don't need a pedometer either.
