Slacker, please don't tell me what I tried to do

You can tell me what you think I tried to do, but I reserve the right to correct you if you are wrong. Being the one who did the trying, I figure I'm the authoritative expert on the subject.

Do I agree that high-end ASP decline will be the same as overall ASP decline? Um, not exactly, but close enough. I believe both high end and low end ASP will decline for portable-blabber-devices-that-also-do-other-things.

But let's say we mount a Qualcomm CDMA chipset in every laptop, do I think Qualcomm will receive revenue keyed on 5% of the laptop's price? No.

The relevant point here is NOT whether the absolute price of the biggest baddest thing with CDMA in it goes up or down (heck, imagine if Qualcomm mounted a CDMA chip inside a car by Chrysler, would that count as high-end ASP?). The relevant point here is that despite an increase in the number of CDMA devices out there, the relative REVENUE per unit is likely to decrease substantially.

As for questioning my manhood, feel free. Or did your mother call you Slacker711?
