<free press in an Arab country> Any "free" press in USA, or just commercial ones??

Btw, one factor in the socalled "anti-americanism" around the world is access through
intrenet to the "free" american press, as well as TV over satellites.

With maybe two exceptions, PBS, always struggling with their budget and on a begging-spree,
and C-SPAN, payed by one cent per cablebox.

Would I be correct to assume you do not follow C-SPANs programming in terms of
US media, as well as not familiar with why C-SPAN exists (besides giving Newt, etc
another channel to orate in front of nobody in the congress, but sounding like
the congress would be packed)

Ilmarinen

As a matter of fact, most nations in the world try to avoid the dysfunctionality of
the US media, especially the TV-media.

Same thing for US-style polls (Also a regular topic on C-SPAN, when the pollsters
try to brag about how well they have been manipulating the polls)

Btw, most media-experts outside USA do not talk much about "unbiased media",
instead they concentrate on having a forum where the biased media can meet.
However, that is pretty difficult in a 2-party system.

it is a view formed through government controlled media, called propaganda

And so is yours. Don't tell me you do not realize the warmongering in the US media of late. How do you think your nation forgot all about Bin Ladin and his crazies and focused on getting Saddam? Media. Propaganda.

You have never been to the middle east, and yet you have all these ideas about the place. How did you get them? Media. Propaganda.

Have you ever been to Palestinian lands under occupation? No. Yet you have opinions.

Give it up on PA oppression, if PA leaders refuse to negotiate, as they did in 2000, and pursue terror tactics instead, what else would you want Israel to do.

Get out. Close its border. Don't let anyone in from Palestinian land for a couple of decades. End to terrorism, Palestine a separate country. Voila.

Several countries learned in history that occupation of a land whose people have nationalist aspirations is a dead-end. A bloody one, at that.

What do I care? Let Israel learn for itself.

What is sad, though, is that Americans share in the blame.

Say Arabs eat persians during ramadan in any U.S. newspaper and you'd be laughed at in every other newspaper from here to ... wherever.

And if a European leader said "We will invade that country because its leader is evil", he would be laughed at by everyone. Fifteen minutes in front of a televangelist, and I wonder how stupid people can get. There was a guy arguing it is our duty to kill witches and hence Harry Potter movies and books were heresy.

There are extremists everywhere. There are also differences in style that are not obvious for those of us who have never travelled to certain lands.

The PA people have their own leaders to thank for their current situation

Possibly. But that's not how they see it, so they will attack their oppressors and those who support them, and that's what matters.
