"Is this supposed to be be .13u CPU?"

Ah, I was wondering how they got it down to 67 watts. Note that it is DP only.

So I guess this is Intel's answer to the DP ClawHammer. 256k of cache doesn't sound so bad any more...

I believe the GHz Deerfield is 0.13u. The GHz launch speed was mentioned yesterday. Maybe they are sandbagging a little bit, but it appears that they optimized for lower power consumption a lot more than higher speed.

I guess they figure that most of that market segment is too dumb to buy anything except Intel, so they'll lower the performance and the power and sell twice as many.

Dear Joe:

SPLAT!!! There goes Paul DeMonde's hopes for a 1.6GHz Itanium3 hitting the wall of reality. 2GHz Opteron already matches 1GHz Itanium2 in SPECfp and blows it away in SPECint. Perhaps at the same power level, Itanium3 will not be very good at dense compute clusters and buried at dense database clusters. They must be shipping Excedrins and bicarbs to Intel by the crate.
