Options follow the market, IMO. Not the other way around.

Large numbers of options do occasionally go in the money near expiry.

When doesn't it work btw? this month was impressive and is the only way to explain the action this week.

Let's define when it works best and go from there.

It works best in choppy trading on low volume.
It does not work in panic selling or panic buying.
The months it fails most often are Sept, Oct, Nov, Feb.
Sept and Feb to the downside.
OCT Nov to the upside.

It can fail other months as well.
Jast June there was panic selling and Pain was nowhere close to hitting.
I have 70-75% success rate on QQQ.
Not following DJX or Spoos long enough to know.
