OT, Joan, maybe we can turn this into Shack's dog board.

We've had two Siberians over time. Siberians are not slow. However these Husky racing dog mixes they have bred up are much faster, and make better pets. They still look quite Husky like, typically. Maybe someday these mixes they have bred up will be thoroughbreds.

Most of the folks that skijor and race here use the mixes now. They refer to Siberians as Sloberans.

When our Airdale passes on I may get a McKenzie. They are big dogs, decent protecters of the home I think, make good pets, and don't wander like the Siberians. The only way to keep a Siberian home is in a fence or on a chain. Even a fence can prove difficult. I live out in the hills, and every once one stops by for a visit.

Here is another way to skijor (skijoer).
