My Dear DRBES - Your rather flaunting description of "The onslaught that AMD is engineering against inteL would look to be amazing in its overwhelming scope and military-like precision." seems to be just a bit off the mark.

We must look at AMD's actual performances, sometimes without regards to our best wishes for AMD.
In particular, AMD executing with "military-like precision" hardly begins to describe the fact that every AMD new product launch for the past 2 years has been about 9 months late and failed to live up to expectations.
With one exception.
And that is the product that we all have been expecting - Hammer - and that, my Dear DRBES, is frankly almost two years late.
With AMD not having hit the profit side of the ledger in I don't know how long, the only "military-like" performance that AMD has displayed is their propensity to spend money willy-nilly with little to show for it.

Re: The real "surprize", however, may be in earlier profitability than anyone (except moi) may be expecting.

Well, it will sure surprise me if it happens. But given that you've been better at predicting this stuff than anyone else (most definitely including me!) you're probably right again.

Regards,

Dan

DARBES,

Judging by the Intel elite running to another message board and Intel insiders bailing out of their stock at this year's high, I would definitely agree that AMD is a better place to invest your money than give it to the Intel executives who doubled their options giveaway from 2000 to 2001.
