Every attempt has been made to "sell" the war. Honesty has taken a back seat. The WH has shown no integrity whatsoever in trying to make its case -- whether it is phony information on links to al Qaeda and meetings that we now know never took place, phony stories about aluminum tubes and Iraq's "ongoing" nuclear program, references to secret British intelligence that turned out to be photocopies of a graduate student's paper based on information ten years old (not to mention that the student was known to have a political axe to grind because of his family history and loss of wealth at the hands of Saddam), meaningless satellite pictures, inconclusive and possibly forged telephone intercepts and all manner of innuendo without foundation about the Iraqi "threat". As for Powell -- he had to get dirty to do his job. He substantially comprised his integrity and has less credibility as a result. It is most unfortunate to see him go down with the rest.

"is Saddam a liar? How about Kim Jung Il? You don't seem to have problems with their veracity." They are professional liars. They are the scum of the earth. I do not recall anything about our system of government however that justifies lying to the American people to convince them to send their children to their deaths based on the untruths of our elected and appointed officials.
