If nobody cared, the US would decline in the same way that so may other countries have before us -- it is an uphill battle to live in a free and democratic society. Our willingness to make the effort to keep our "leaders" honest is what separates us from the Saddam's of the world. The moment you accept the proposition that the ends justify the means, you are on the slippery slope. The WH has taken the first step on that slope in the past year. We must pull back from this while we still can.
