Nice Rant! You left one participant out of the list....us. Like you said, if our elected officials weren't minding the shop, then it was the responsibility of the captains of industry to hold the banner of ethical capitalism, and if they failed, it is the responsibility of the people to not reward those who don't follow the rules. But we did reward them. We failed the system for the same reasons they did. Greed. We didn't want to see that the Government and the Fed were selling our future for immediate gain, because we were making lots of money. We didn't want to see that the captains of industry were cooking the books because by ignoring this, we were reaping the benefits and were having three, five and ten baggers. And I wish that I wasn't guilty, but I am. I played all of those mania stocks and I didn't really apply critical thinking to the business models compared to valuation. The great thing about capitalism is that it is a self correcting system. Our system got sick and now its getting a nasty dose of medicine.
