I would put it in somewhat different words, but I see that you are one of not too many people who really understand what is happening. Pearl Harbor didn’t threaten the very survival of America – but Muslim extremists do. It is not just that barbarians are threatening Rome – it is that potentially (or, maybe presently) NUCLEAR barbarians are threatening Rome. Any hooligan state or any major terrorist with money nowadays can conceivably obtain the Great Equalizer. Too many are trying to deal with the new reality as if there is nothing new about it. Too many leaders – and intellectuals – are still fighting wars of the past centuries.
