This post would seem to belong here rather than over there:

It does, and it is downright bizarre that France and Germany are supporting, even insisting on, this policy of appeasement. These people just don't learn.

How ironic I find it that both GERMANY and France want to oppose us and achieve "PEACE IN OUR TIME" (Neville Chamberlain circa 1938 regarding appeasing the ruthless dictator in order to satisfy his appetite by ceding portions of Czechoslovakia to him.) by appeasing Sadam Hussein which will surely avert future disasters.

"Those who ignore history are bound to repeat its missteaks."

History rarely if ever repeats itself. If it did, we would never learn anything beyond a certain level. While sharing some Hitler like similarities, Saddam Hussein, really, is a whole different ball game that may require a whole different approach to resolve.

But remember, there always are people ready to tell us that if we don't respond in a particular way, history will repeat itself. I guess we should be grateful that so many have long memories and are quick to remind us of that fact!
