I think the reason people slur about "Wolfowitz and Perle" is the unspoken assumption that they are carrying water for Israel while pretending to support the interests of the US.

Here is the key paragraph from Brooks that got my "juices flowing."

A Vietnam vet got up to rail against U.S. policy on Iraq, which he said was engineered by "Paul Wolfowitz and Daniel Pearl." He got the wrong Pearl. He accidentally mentioned somebody who was beheaded for being American and Jewish. But the crowd didn't seem to notice. They roared with approval and slapped him on the back as he made his way from microphone. Why didn't he say Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rice, and Powell were organizing the Bush administration policy? They're higher ranking officials than Wolfowitz and actually members of the administration, unlike Perle. Would the crowd have roared as wildly if he'd mentioned Rice and Powell, I wondered, or did the words Wolfowitz and Perle somehow get their juices flowing?

That paragraph hit home, and made me think, "Hey, Win combines Wolfowitz and Perle a lot in his posts, they are his favorite people to hit when he slams the admin. Is this anti-Semitic?" And I said that I was going to call him on it the next time he posted it.

John and Rascal then have a fit.

In John's case, he thinks nothing of calling posts here "McCarthyism" and we are supposed to swallow this slur. As Nadine pointed out this morning, call a an admitted communist a "Communist" is not "McCarthyism." But that has never stopped John.

Rascal hinted that I was some sort of terrible person. Guess I beat my ex-wife, killed her dog, and stole her Bible.

It is a real "Double Standard" CB.

I think the reason people slur about "Wolfowitz and Perle" is the unspoken assumption that they are carrying water for Israel while pretending to support the interests of the US. The deep meaning of the unspoken assumption is that the interests of Israel and the US are in some way antithetical, so Wolfowitz and Perle are actually acting against the interests of the US.

Bingo. I just heard Perle try to defend himself against this charge on TV this morning. Difficult to do, since there is no way for Perle to prove that he really believes that the US and Israel are fighting a common enemy and have many common interests.
